Due to poor hygienic conditions, especially in rural areas of Nepal, many people suffer from illnesses such as diarrhea, scabies or skin diseases. Therefore apart from health projects Chay-Ya offers hygienic education. Top priority is given to the implementation of toilettes. Comic signs explaining parents of children down with diarrhea how to stop contamination of water. These signs especially address an alphabets and explain how simple hygienic rules are protecting whole families from severe illness. Free tooth paste, toothbrushes and soap are incentives for drawing interest and inciting people to implement those rules. Due to these measures personal hygiene of children has improved considerably in the past few years.
