Being one of the most beautiful and isolated places in the world, the Nepalese Himalaya also poses a threat for its inhabitants in terms of basic health care services. Living in the Tsum Valley means that it takes days to reach the doctor. Locals lack basic health facilities and maternal services. Antibiotics and other medicines aren’t available. One small cut can lead to blood poisoning, giving birth is highly challenging and even the flu can be fatal.
Given this scenario, Chay Ya has built a Birthing Center and Outreach Clinic in Tsum Nubri RM-7, Lar, Gorkha in association with Scouts of Austria, Medi Himal, Government of Austria and YONSED.
The Birthing Centre building is a single-storied dry stone with timber tie-beam construction, located in the center of Chhekampar VDC.
Health center was inaugurated on 28 October 2016 by District Public Health Officer- Gorkha, Mr. Kedar Raj Parajuli . The main objective of the center is to provide basic primary and maternity health services to the local people.
