Transforming Lived with Improved Cooking Stove: The Story of Naurati Pandey

At 70 years old, Naurati Pandey from Kalikot used to struggle with smoke-filled kitchens, frequent illnesses, and the burden of collecting large amounts of firewood. Her daily routine left little time for self-care or rest. After receiving an Improved Cooking Stove (ICS) through the Eco-Zone Project supported by UNICEF Nepal, her life changed significantly. The new stove reduced indoor smoke, improved her health, and drastically cut down firewood consumption. With the extra time and cleaner home environment, her family started vegetable farming, earning around NPR 15,000 monthly. Naurati now spends more time caring for her grandchildren, focusing on their hygiene and education. The ICS became a turning point for better health, income, and overall well-being.
